If you marvel at the course of the Moselle on the relief postcard, you might think the water would have intentionally put in a few extra kilometers to stay longer in this charming landscape.
There are definitely enough reasons for this. Starting in Trier, the oldest city in Germany, up to the border triangle in Koblenz, the river connects countless historical and cultural assets. The grapevines that grow on the mountain slopes reward the region’s winegrowers with some of Germany’s finest wines. These can, of course, be tasted and enjoyed on the spot with a romantic view of the meandering river.
In 2016, the “Wandermagazin” chose the 365-kilometer Moselsteig as Germany’s most beautiful hiking trail. The rolling counterpart is the 270-kilometer Mosel cycle path from the French border to the Rhine.
